Take the time to breathe today

How busy is your life?  This blog today has nothing to do with fashion but everything to do with our health and well being.  Our good health and well being has everything to do with how good we look and how good we feel.  Without them no great fashion item can make us look  our best.  So we ask the question did you take the time to breathe today  ?

 

Today I felt guilty because I took a day of rest and started to wonder why I should feel guilty about that.

 

In Australia when we meet someone our usual greeting is, ‘hello, how are you?’  Sometime ago I realized my answer would always be ‘oh, I’m so busy.’  The realization came when everyone else I asked gave me the same answer.  I stopped using the phrase ‘oh, I’m so busy,’ despite the reality of my busy days and just listened to my friends as they gave me a full account of how busy their day and life is.  At the end of the conversation there was simply no time for me to give any indication as to how busy my day, week, life is.

 

Busyness seems to have become a modern day obsession and as Hugh Mackay, a social researcher, has  said “Busyness has become the new badge of honour.  If you’re not busy, you must be dead, or on the scrapheap.  If you’re not busy, you must have fallen victim to the demon drink or gone to the dogs.  Not busy? So I have come to the conclusion that is just how life is and the only person that can change it is oneself.  After feeling guilty about taking a day of rest I came across this quote by www.goodlifequotes.com “Sometimes it’s okay if the only thing you did today was breathe.”  What a blinding flash of the obvious.

 

With a little more research I found a lot more benefits for breathing and whilst we do it at an unconscious level everyday, sometimes it is really important to do it at a conscious level in order to understand how to breathe properly.  These are some of the benefits:-

• Improves the look of your skin by receiving fresh oxygenated blood
•Improves tired muscles by stimulating vital nutrients carried in your blood
•Helps us to destress
•Helps to ease anxiety.

Take the time to breathe today.  It’s one sure way of helping you look rested, calm and beautiful.  “Sometimes it’s okay if the only thing you did today was breathe.” – www.goodlifequotes.com.  I no longer feel guilty and highly recommend you sometimes take a day to just breathe.  When I do in the future I will certainly be paying more attention to breathing properly.
